History Of The Company
Fred DiGiovanni founded Island Charter in 1979 after being awarded a small bus contract from the NYC Board of Education. In 1999, his son Fred Jr. joined the company and together they brought Island Charter to its present grandeur and reputation.
Through his unrivaled spirit, limitless energy, unconditional loyalty and desire to grow the family business, Fred Jr. has since grown Island Charter from its humble beginnings to become a one of the premier privately-owned transportation companies in the NY Metropolitan area.
What began with 5 mini school buses transporting students back and forth to school in Staten Island 30 years ago, has grown to include mini school buses, large school buses and coach buses – servicing schools, private charters, sporting events, corporate events and special occasions.
Still independently owned, managed and operated by its original founders, today Island Charter proudly operates nearly 150 vehicles, and services New York (including: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island and Long Island) and all of New Jersey (including: Atlantic City). Island Charter values the tradition of service established since the company’s inception and continues to retain the incomparable staff that our local communities have come to know and trust.
Island Charter is a company dedicated to providing safe and reliable transportation. Our reputation for great service and commitment to raising the standards of ground transportation are also the finest in the industry.
